Improving the robustness and performance of Li-ion systems for hearing aids

PhD student: Markus Kalle Santeri Asikainen

This is an Industrial PhD project with WSA Audiology. One key challenge in designing high quality hearing aids is the extreme exposure conditions in-door and out-door due to the necessity of product to work in contact with human body as well as external climate. The objectives of this project are: (i) Understand the corrosion reliability issues of Li-ion based hearing aid devices, (ii) Develop a detailed knowledge of the user environment impact and failure mechanisms, (iii) Find preventive strategies, and (iv) Implement the remedies as guidelines for development of Li-ion device including Power Supply Modules (PSMs).
